What a interesting post my friend. I am a facebook addict and mostly spend my time playing some playfish games and just chatting out with my family. Surely, there are so many ways we can use facebook and I really love using it. I hope they have something more new to come for all of us.

Thank you! I've been struggling with that myself. My husband and I teach wednesday night class and are starting a youth group that will meet once a week. The youth want us to use facebook instead of emailing, calling, or putting out stuff in the bulletin. We have a group page but many of them have asked me to message them the link as they can't find it. To message some of them (depending on privacy levels) I have had to request them as a friend. I had very mixed feelings about it. My husband and I decided he would friend the guys and I would friend the girls to reduce some of the risks. We are only friending those that ask us to or we have to due to their privacy settings. Now, we are thinking about deleting all of the friends now that they are in the facebook group youth group but don't want to alienate anyone. What are your thoughts? Email: scheopner@sbcglobal.net.

Hey Eric,
Great post brother. I totally agree that we've got to be meeting young people on social media AND we've got to be prudent in how we do it. All too often I keep hearing good Catholics who want to "ban Facebook" somehow thinking that's going to solve the abuses. The abuses of social media by YM's, Vol's, and educators is because they lack healthy boundaries and probably a healthy support network. I think if St. Maximillian Kolbe were alive today, he would have INVTENTED it! Thanks for all your great work. Excellent blog!
